The business experts have been specifically selected based on their range of experience to provide a high-level expertise and sector knowledge to established and growing businesses.  Inclusion to the MENTA consultants register is determined by a committee of industry leaders from across the Norfolk and Suffolk business community. MENTA Consultants must have demonstrated a high level of achievement in their sector as well as demonstrating a long track record of result driven support to fellow entrepreneurs.

Richard Johns


Richard is a leading entrepreneur in the creative industries who has built businesses and careers, producing feature films, TV programmes and commercials over 30 years so far. He is an award-winning co-producer of Oscar- and Bafta-nominated film Shadow of the Vampire with Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich. Richard cast and produced Eddie Redmayne in Like Minds, produced and sold Killing Time to Columbia TriStar, and more recently made and released Tim Roth-vehicle The Liability. Alongside creative DNA is his commercial acumen, fostered early in his career working in advertising with Procter and Gamble, then co-founding one of the first independent TV companies in the north of England.

Andrew Dahl


Entrepreneurial, versatile and innovative Andrew has scaled B2C and B2B businesses providing technical and products or services both in the UK and for export. He has successfully turned around struggling companies. He builds strategies, develops sound financial plans and then, working with the senior management team, drives change and growth at an operational level to deliver them. Andrew has expertise in consumer products, engineering and technology as well as businesses that make a positive societal or environmental impact. He has helped both early stage and established £80m+ organisations.

Simon Pickering


Simon is a highly skilled and experienced consultant with entrepreneurial flair for supporting charities, social enterprises and creatively based SMEs to scale up.

He established Dot to Dot Training & Consulting in 2015 providing a high quality and impactful consultancy service for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector (VCSE Sector) Since 2015 he has worked with over 50 charities and social enterprises, providing business development expertise including business planning, strategy development and organisational reviews.

Simon has worked in the Public and VCSE sector at a high level for over 20 years. Including roles at the BBC support young creatives. Simon is committed to promoting enterprise at all levels, most recently  he supported 26 homeless sector organisations to develop social enterprises.  Previously, Simon owned and operated an independent event production company with contracts held with BMW Mini Group and multinational Sodexo.


Susanna Hornby


Susanna has 31 years of sales, training, and business development experience in both the B2B and B2C markets within the publishing, events and media industries.

Her key strengths lie in identifying, sourcing, and gaining new business, creating new sales opportunities and realising profit. Susanna is experienced at developing existing client-bases, training and coaching all levels of salespeople and managers, developing new and existing publishing brands/products, sales planning, sales strategies, marketing plans, advertising, social media marketing, event planning and organisation, and increasing revenue and profits.

Susanna is also an accomplished podcast presenter, consultant, and strategist and can advise on podcast marketing, set up and production for companies and individuals.

Emma Finn


Emma is a versatile, marketing and communications leader who helps drive business growth. With 20 years’ as a successful senior manager, she has both a strategic and hands-on approach. Clients include start-up and established businesses, the world-class University Imperial College, London and regional organisations, the New Anglia LEP, New Anglia Growth Hub and enterprise agency, MENTA.

Elizabeth Pearce


Elizabeth Pearce is an experienced Operations Director with over 30 years’ experience of strategy, management systems and project management. A professionally trained Lead Assessor with a record of successful implementation and certification of both BRC Global Food Standard and ISO9000 in rapidly growing Companies.

John Clarke


John is a professional, highly experienced, trainer with a wide range of Business Skills. On screen presenter for Relaxed presentation style proves popular with delegates who, regularly, comment on the, “ease of understanding” and “knowledge and professionalism”. Practical experience gained from running his own business is invaluable to clients when discussing business issues.

Eric Kearley

Steve Gilbert


An executive coach, mentor and business consultant with over 20 years’ experience of developing people and businesses. In that time, he has advised senior level people in major blue organizations both within the commercial and public sector on organization transformation and cultural change and coached over 10,000 individual leaders across multiple sectors. Steve works with leaders and/or their teams, across all levels of organization from corporate to SME and Start-up to develop better alignment, better communication and more effective in achieving business aims.

John Ogden
